Theoretical Astrophysics Program

To continue UArizona’s long history of success in astronomy and planetary sciences, the Theoretical Astrophysics Program was developed as an interdisciplinary program to bring together the Physics, Astronomy, Planetary Sciences and Applied Mathematics Departments as well as the NSF NOIRLab. The Theoretical Astrophysics Program (TAP) organizes a Monday colloquium series, an annual graduate student research prize competition, student travel grants, a postdoctoral fellowship, and a faculty visitor program. Additionally, the TAP Initiatives provide opportunities for theory faculty and students to participate in research discussions, join efforts to advance new research directions, and plan collaborative project proposals.

UArizona faculty and students working across all areas of theoretical astrophysics are encouraged to join the TAP email list and invited to become a TAP member.

The TAP colloquia and visitor schedule, plus other information is available on the TAP website. Gurtina Besla (Steward Observatory) is the Chair (Interim). Rosie Johnson is the TAP Project Manager.
