Room:

Dr. Robert Lupton, Princeton University

Talk title: What can LSST learn from SDSS and HSC?

The LSST data rate is 400 Mbytes/second, and the project is committed to making alerts available within 60s and full-depth photometric and shape analysis within a year of the shutter closing. I shall discuss the lessons learned from SDSS on how to create a scientifically useful data processing system, with emphasis on the sociology rather than the algorithms. I will also discuss the commissioning process for the 1.8 deg^2 HSC camera on Subaru with an eye on lessons learned for LSST.
