High Temperature Spectrometer Block
Diagram
Below is a block diagram of the high
temperature millimeter/submillimeter-wave spectrometer.
The radiation source, detector, and phase-locking electronics are identical to the low temperature spectrometer.
The main differences concern the reaction chamber and the optics
scheme. The reaction chamber is a double-walled, water-cooled steel
vacuum cell, which contains three Broida-type oven
ports. The optics scheme replaces the teflon lenses with two offset
ellipsoidal mirrors (Reflectors 1 & 2) and a mylar window at the
front of the reaction chamber. A path-length modulator is employed for
baseline smoothing.
