Bolometer Detector
The detector used in our experiments is an InSb
hot electron bolometer cooled to liquid helium temperatures via
an inner dewar of liquid helium surrounded by an outer jacket of
liquid nitrogen. The millimeter-waves are converted to a voltage
signal, which passes through a low-noise preamplifier before being
processed by a lock-in amplifier.
Below is a photograph of one of the bolometer detectors used by the Ziurys Group.
