CoO sample spectra. Notice the octet splitting due to the cobalt hyperfine interaction and further splitting due to lambda-doubling.
CoO stick spectrum. Lambda-doubling occurs in the W=3/2 and W=1/2 spin components for this molecule. Also notice that the ground state is inverted.
