Title: Star Cluster Formation: A Battle Between Mass Accretion and Stellar Feedback

Abstract:
Stars form almost exclusively within star clusters, alongside hundreds to millions of others in a turbulent, dense environment. Star clusters form in a dynamical sequence of gas accumulation, turbulent collapse, and dispersal -- in which their initial properties, like structure, density, and boundedness, are forged. Several forms of energetic feedback from the growing star cluster complicate this process and raise key questions: How does stellar feedback interact with the on-going arrival of new matter? What determines whether feedback is important on cluster scales? What ultimately ends a cluster's formation? This talk will examine the setting and processes of star cluster formation, map out its physical regimes, and answer some of these questions.
