Telescopes for Public Viewing

Amongst the telescopes owned and operated by Steward Observatory, there are a certain number of telescopes whose primary role is to be available for public viewings. There is always immense public interest in being able to observe stars and nearby planets, and the weather conditions in Tucson are very often favorable for good viewing. This public interaction with our telescopes also helps foster an engagement in Astronomy amongst young people which is vital to encourage the next generation of astronomers.
