The Computer Support Group no longer does periodic tape backups of any user
data disks.  Even though this was only a fraction of the total disk
space on CSG administered hosts, the ever increasing and unnecessary load
on human and computer resources has severely reduced the cost/effectiveness
of this service.  Users are in a much better position to know which of
the files they own need to be backed up and which do not.  Any users
needing help learning how to do their own backups, should consult the CSG.
