Since 2002, Beshore has been the operations manager for the Catalina Sky Survey, a leading NASA-funded program to inventory asteroids and comets that may represent a hazard to the Earth. After April of 2009, he will become principal investigator for the Catalina program. His interests include physical characterization of asteroids, scientific software development, robotic telescopes, survey techniques and technologies, large data set management, and high performance processing pipeline development. Before coming to the U of A, Beshore was a senior officer of a technical marketing company in Colorado Springs, and an R&D Project Manager for Hewlett-Packard. He has also worked as a software engineer at the MMT Observatory, the Boeing Company, and on the Pioneer 11 mission to Saturn. Beshore has his own observatory in Colorado. His other interests include travel photography and geology.
